Elle Pervez
Raised in a creative family of five, between an irrigation farm in rural New South Wales and remote communities in the Northern Territory, Elle Pervez was in primary school when her Dad converted an old school bus into a home on wheels, and drove to rejoin their teacher mum in Ngukkur in the Northern Territory. Elle was schooled via school of the air and enjoyed a life of long walks in National Parks, backyard mango trees, hot springs and long drives with the only ‘air conditioner’ being a wet washer and the window down.
Aside from trips in New South Wales visiting family, Elle had not travelled much, and this was to be the beginning of a lifelong love of travel, adventure, new experiences and cultures. Through her mum’s various teaching jobs, Elle was able to see so much of remote Australia, and she loves the desert still. "It resonates with me deeply and has a strong feeling of home. The Australian bush landscape is my other love – I am a country girl at heart, and thrilled to now have land of my own in country Victoria."
Travel inspired within Elle a love of the vast and ever-changing Australian landscape, which continues to be a strong influence in her art practice. From the farm to the desert, from drought to lush rains, wildflowers to sandy dunes – all these lived experiences can be seen in Elle's art.
Elle's signature style is abundant with colour, texture and intricate detail. She uses a combination of brush strokes, palette knives, collage, oil stick and of course, gold foil, to build textural detail, and create a unique mixed media work with a gorgeous sense of luxury.
