Artist Bio Based in Mount Barker, Western Australia, Carly completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) at Edith Cowan University, Perth in 2000. She is a contemporary landscape painter, developing works that are drawn from emotional responses to the landscape that surrounds her. Carly strives to evoke memory and emotion through intuitive layering and carving, evolving to become seductive and tactile works. Texture is a theme embedded in her practice, where Carly explores its dynamic potential through building up and carving back; a dance between control and unpredictability revealing the sculptural quality of wax, oil and pigment.
